I wonder if that's dependent on the chip. I have one of the old style
with the upgrade chip and it ranges from 2400 to 57600.

OK, Mike. I did re-read it and I still am not sure what you mean. The

Mike,
Make it simple - put the Y cable at the P3 -- The short cable that
comes with the P3 connects between the P3 and the K3.
Set the baud rate at the P3, computer and SteppIR controller to the same
value.
Job done.

Hi Ian,
My 5 year old SteppIR controller works fine at 38400 bps.

The one I originally used must have been a very early model, then,
because that definitely was 19200 max. With my present SDA-100,
everything can be set to 38400.

I've got a P3 coming, and just downloaded the manual. If I understand
correctly from the diagram on p 13, the RS232 path is Computer---P3---K3.
Currently I have a y cable plugged into the K3. The cable from the
'puter plugs into one leg of that, and the other leg goes to the SteppIR
control
Hi Mike,
Think of the leg of the Y cable that goes to the K3 as the Elecraft leg.
Take the cable that now goes to the K3 and move it to the P3. Then take the
short serial cable supplied with the P3 and connect it between the P3 and
the K3.

Thanks, Mike.
Just to make sure my age fuzzed brain got it:
The Y stays where it is, plugged into the K3. The cable from the
computer moves from that to the P3, then the shorty goes from the P3 to
the Y.

Hi Mike,
That is not correct. Please reread my response. Keep in mind that the P3 has
two RS232 ports on it. One port from the computer and one port to the K3.
If you wait until you get the P3 and its manual in your hands you'll see
that it is really quite simple. Everything you need is
It should work either way, but it would be better to put the SteppIR Y
RS-232 cable on the PC side of the P3 instead of the K3 side. As Dick
mentioned, then you aren't limited to 38400 baud. And also there is
less traffic on that side, which may be less confusing to the SteppIR.
BTW, I will be
