I realize this is more or less the opposite of what you are asking for, but
WB9KZY has a scheme for doubling the CW message memory on a K2:
http://jacksonharbor.home.att.net/memdk2.htm. Maybe it gives some useful
ideas for other kinds of memory expansions also.

By the way, it seems to me that the external EEPROM only holds Morse code
memories, calibration data and frequency memories. If that is the case, then
there would be little chance of trading code space against CW message space.
