Thanks to all who responded with information for using the foam included, 
either by
splitting it into two pieces or using it as a single strip. 

Further inventory checks found a bigger problem in the parts received. The box 
labeled as
containing a 2.8-KHz filter contained instead a 6-KHz filter! Email has been 
sent to
Elecraft for an exchange ASAP.
