IF you attempt this (though I suspect you're kidding), be aware that the
LED specified for the SPLIT/RIT indicator is a Hi-Eff (e.g. very low
current) device. If you (or anyone else) use a regular LED, you will have
to add a driver transistor in order to allow the LED to draw more

I just added a hi-current LED to my K2 as a SPLIT/RIT/XIT indicator. Adding
the emitter follower transistor was a cinch. I used a 2N2907 PNP
transistor, connected the base where the cathode of the lo-cur LED would
have been, connected the collector where the anode of the lo-cur LED was
