hashy carrier, similar to TV-generated noise) every 5-10 kHz as I tuned
the band. When I turned my laptop off, it went away.
My laptop is about 4 ft from the radio and about 25 ft from my balcony

The interference may be coming from the LCD. Can you reduce the brightness of
the display?
Also check the power supply - try putting beads on the leads. It could be a
noisy switching supply.
If, as Jeff suggested, it's Ethernet noise, you could use a USB wireless
adapter if the

yes, needs to be connected). Unplugged PS and no change while on battery.
Using an external monitor, with laptop monitor off. Turning off external
monitor makes no difference.

Barry, what Jeff means is to go to the device manager in your Windows, find
the internal Ethernet adaptor, and set it to
computer to be sure it's not radiating
any rf.

Any USB/serial dongles connected. There were some postings previously
on these beasties sometimes causing noise.
