One more item that may be of interest to the masses. For years I used
my K3 and a Vista laptop with West Mountain USB converters. This setup
worked perfectly. A laptop failure required me to upgrade. Due to the
purchase of the new Win 8 laptop I needed to replace my USB RS232

Not sure it is the search itself, but the differences in the security levels
for drivers and other things being installed on the machine. Win 8 seems to
want to only accept signed drivers and win 7 doesn't seem to care.
