It was?a common problem and it happened to me twice already but Elecraft took
care of me and sent me two knobs,the last ones they sent me look like they
are better,I have been using them for 6 months and no broken anymore,I ~ AD4C
I've only had my K3 #2626 5 months. The AF knob loosened
I epoxyed mine back together, but may call or email Elecraft with an
inquiry.
Perhaps they have gone to a better grade of knob by now.
Elecraft has been great about getting knob replacements out very quickly. I
first noticed a crack in my knobs after using the K3 in ~ 40 degree
Contesters and those who take their K3s out on DXpeditions may want
to consider keeping a spare set available in the event the knobs crack in
the heat of the moment.

found an alan small enough to tighten it the knob split before it was even
snugged up. Not cranked. Wasn't there a thread about this about the time I
purchased my K3? Is this a common problem? Is there an improved
