Try fldigi. It works with pskreporter for digimode spots.
It has beam headings in it, and extensive macro facilities.
I have a macro which rotates my antenna and another which sets my steppir,
as I don't use the auto-follow feature.
fldigi runs on Win/Lin/Mac.

Thanks, Greg. I'm looking at its website. Does the spot window make a band
map, i.e. put the calls of spotted stations on the waterfall? If it does, I
can't see it on their website.

Tony,
I use DXLabs. I works just great with the K3 and you can configure macro
command buttons AND SLIDERS for variable controls. I have tried just about
every program I can find and for me at least DXLabs is the best...AND...it
is free.
You download the Launcher program and from that you can t
I've used MixW for 7 years, and always been happy with it. However, I'd
like to learn from those who have used other similar software.
Here's what I use MixW for: It maintains my log, transmits/receives CW,
RTTY and PSK, serves as a voice keyer, figures antenna headings and puts
them on a display,
TRX-Manager; the author purchased a K3 when it first came out and it has
complete
control of the rig - including equalizer, STeppIR, etc. I have had no
issues. Not 'free',
but you can try it out first.
I am a beta tester.

MacLoggerDX - best software support on a Mac imho.
and you can interface cocoaModem with it.

I will caution that as of this time the Hamlib version, 1,2,12, compiled
with Fldigi does not have good K3 support. I rewrote the K3
Ian,
If your interest is mainly for digital modes, you might want to look at

If you want a K3 control application, then look at the N4PY software.
IMHO, HRD is the most complete, but it does have problems when coupled
with the P3 - the intense polling of HRD is its pr
I've tried DXLab Suite, but I prefer DX4WIN.

Chuck,
Yes, the computer is just another tool that one can connect to the K3,
but it can be a very powerful tool. For Data Modes, applications like
Fldigi, HRD/DM780. MixW, and many others can open a whole new path to

Personally, I use the knobs on the front panel for control of the rig. I use
MacLoggerDX for logging (connected to the rig so it gets frequency/power
automagically) and CocoaModem for what little PSK/RTTY I do. For me the
computer is just another tool that happens to connect to the radio...
73,
You might take a look at fldigi . Windows, Linux and OS X are
all supported.

Usually I run CocoaModem for digital operation and RUMLog for logging and rig
control.
There are Apple Scripts that will transfer calls from CocoaModem to either
RUMLog or MacLoggerDX.
Another option is fldigi.

Kok Chen W7AN develops high-quality freeware on the Mac side of the house,

running Windows apps under Wine?
