Tighter than that makes understanding the voice on the other end extremely
difficult. For a general SSB QSO I usually tighten the DSP filter to 2.1 to
2.2 and that sounds excellent.

For me, 1 KHz bandpass for voice is unreadable. If the filter is very, very

First of all, the crystal filter has nothing to do with trying different
bandwidths. The DSP provides complete flexibility, including 1 kHz with the
stock 2.7 kHz crystal roofing filter. But, yes, I've operated at a 1 kHz RX
bandwidth on SSB, 400-1400 Hz. The intelligibility was much better than
