[Elementary-dev-community] Build issues in Ubuntu Precise

2012-01-05 Thread Сергей
Hello everybody, Most of you have probably already noticed that some elementary apps continuously fail to build for Ubuntu Precise in elementary PPAs. Fabian Thoma has tracked the issues down; they are caused by the deprecation of Glib thread API

[Elementary-dev-community] About Dexter Contacts...

2012-01-05 Thread Mario Guerriero
Hi, As you probably know I am working on a Vala version of Dexter using gnome-contacts codebase. It is something similar a fork and I want to move its build system to CMake as the others elementary apps but for this I need a very CMake expert because I don't know how to make it! https://bluep

Just, before you read this mail, this is your project, so, of course, you can do what you want ;) Here are only some advice. No, sorry, it is a bad idea. We don't have the man power to maintain a full desktop (sorry, back to reality for most of the elementary team, but we won't be able to maintain

Mario, I think a fork is justifiable in this situation, I support that decision, What does everyone else think? Allen Lowe On Thu, Jan 5, 2012 at 2:19 PM, Mario Guerriero wrote: > Hi, > > As you probably know I am working on a Vala version of Dexter using > gnome-contacts codebase. It is somethi

Well, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect that we can have our own desktop. We're attracting more and more developers as time goes on. And I think the example of Ne kind of backfires because we now have Marlin instead. So, if Mario wants to just fork and thinks he can maintain the app himse

I believe a fork is justifiable here. It's no more than a UI to libfolks, and patching out upstream UI changes and applying them to the changed codebase probably will be more tedious than just maintaining a fork. I also believe that in this particular case autotools are severely misused, and the so

Last time I checked the backend was complete, except creating calendars in evolution-data-server. This operation is performed only once, on first startup, so at the moment maya won't work until evolution is launched at least once. -- Sergey "Shnatsel" Davidoff -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.n

Xapanťu, Apologies, I was speaking solely of Granite and getting it into Universe in my previous email. Personally, I don't think we'd need to get the new tab bar in for the first release unless it is nearly complete; it's a pretty big design and implementation process, and will need to undergo a

Thanks, Shnatsel. I was getting a bit concerned as to why things weren't building. Also props to Fabian for tracking that down. Let's get things building again, people! :D On Jan 5, 2012 7:21 AM, "Сергей" wrote: > I've created a bug report and included all affected apps I could find. > https://bu
