Hello Folks,

I just saw the announcement for RHEL 6.4

"kmod-compat-wireless does not support RHEL 6.4. Red Hat backported
the wireless stack from kernel-3.5 in RHEL6.4 so users of 6.4 should
uninstall kmod-compat-wireless and try the native wireless drivers in
the distro kernel."

I am using this USB " NetGear, Inc. WNA1100 Wireless-N 150 [Atheros
AR9271]" that seems to be recognized by Centos6.4 but it doesn't
create a wlan0 interface.

My entire point is to create an AP with hostapd. If I install 6.3 will
i be able to install kmod-compat-wireless and then install hostapd?

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,

You want the ath9k_htc driver for the Atheros AR9271

Please try installing kmod-ath9k_htc and the corresponding firmware package
ath9k_htc-firmware from the el6 elrepo repository:

yum install kmod-ath9k_htc ath9k_htc-firmware

and let us know how you get on. I'd expect the device to be detected in
NetworkManager after a reboot.

Hope that helps,

Phil

Hi Phil,

You were absolutely right !
I ran yum install kmod-ath9k_htc ath9k_htc-firmware
and it was detected !

merci

Frank

Hi Frank,

Brilliant - glad it works for you.

We really appreciate end user feedback as we are unable to test most of the drivers ourselves as we don't have the physical hardware, and we get far too little feedback from users so it is much appreciated.

Regards,

Phil
