the problem was on my side, the change was for some reason not picked
up by git.
Works also for me now.

It works for me.
200\nbsp{}m^2
becomes
200~m\^{}2
Are you running the latest version? Maybe you have older complied files?

unfortunately, after doing a 'git pull' and recompiling \nbsp{}m^2
still results in 200~\{\}m$^2$ for me.
