any inaccuracies, please do. It sounds like your latex installation is
incomplete, or lyx didn't detect the availability of the "book" class.

It looks like there's an assumption that AXIS will be installed in the
same prefix as python. This didn't show up before, because most people
who are running installed use the packages with --prefix=/usr
I'll see what I can do to fix this. If it goes a few days without a

the files are instelled in /usr/local/emc/...,
axis tries to load the file accel.tcl from /usr/share/axis/tcl but
everything is installed in /usr/local/share/axis/tcl

I tried installing Lyx on both Windows and Ubuntu 6.06, using the
