Addendum: dpkg-checkbuilddeps fails on this distribution with the pithy comment "dpkg-checkbuilddeps: error: syntax error in debian/control at line 19: block lacks the 'Package' field" There's an extraneous blank line in the file debian/control at line 19 which caused dpkg-checkbuilddeps to beli
