Cable systems in a building

Does any one know what are the requirements for a cable system in a building are ? especially in the UK. Standards, surge testing, flammability, EMC etc. I believe there is a new directive covering this type of thing soon, can any one do the testing for this ? regards Darren Pearson Radio
