caps in for cs01, may remove for cs02, you use a blocking choke there so doesn't factor in, cs06 in for series injection out or blocked by inductor for parallel injection. call me for rationale, too complex for e-mail in for all other tests except where LISN required in lieu -- From:

Andrew: Use the 10 uF caps: 1. For RS03 (since the caps are defining the powerline source Z). 2. For RS01 (but it won't make any difference). 3. For RS02 (not clear, but for consistency). 4. For CS06 AC leads, I use one 10 uF cap line-to-line, as shown in Figure CS06-1 (as it lowers the voltage

Emissions from dithered clocks etc.

A New Work proposal is to be submitted to IEC CISPR/G, concerning any changes to emission standard CISPR22/EN55022 that may need to be made to deal with dithered clocks and similar. It is at an early stage at present, but those concerned should keep a look out for it and decide whether they need

Can anyone advise! When testing to mil 461a/b/c for airforce, emissions are done using 10uF Capacitors in-line between the supply source and the unit under test (1 metre from the EUT). LISNs are used for army and have only been incorporated for airforce equipments in 461d/e. Are the 10uF Caps

RE: RF testing question

The digital data links that I regularly see have both an avalanche and a jitter effect. By those totally subjective terms, I mean that once you get to a point where the bit error rate (BER) goes from near zero to one percent or so, you need very little more decrease in desired signal level to

That answered 90% of my unknowns. One last degree of freedom appears yet to be uncontrolled. That is XMTR - RCVR separation. That would also have to be fixed in order to get repeatable results. Is that the case? -- From: Kevin Harris harr...@dscltd.com To: 'Ken Javor'

RE: RF testing question

2001-05-08 Thread Kevin Harris
Hi Ken, Let me try to explain it better. The standard asks that you stop reducing the signal strength one you cross the 25% threshold. I would imagine that it would be very hard to get exactly 25% So for example if you got a 10 % failure rate at one level then reduced the transmit signal

RE: ETSI telecom acoustic power test (fan noise, etc...)

2001-05-08 Thread Chris Maxwell
Hi David, Two quick tidbits came to mind. 1. Many products with fans use thermostats or thermistors to control the fans. In these products, the fans are only turned on when a certain internal temperature is reached. So, there probably is a good justification for measuring the noise at the
