Strange. I don't know what's going on but in the last few months my office has been bombarded with sound level questions on our products from customers in NA, EU, Hong Kong, and South Africa. Did someone publish a news story on ESPN or something? We perform a simple sound pressure level test here

Gary, This looks more confusing than EMC... A few customers have asked me about acoustic noise (because my little p/s fan cannot be heard over their bank of rack fans). I have yet to determine what requirements/limits are NORMATIVE for NA or the EU in an office enviroment. Any guidance? FWIW, OS

Brian, I'm not sure about product specific standards, but you might look at telecommunications standards such as ITSI 300-019 (I think) series and the US NEB GR 1089 and companion standards or some guidance. But very briefly they discuss a "quiet office" at about 55 dBA. But there are lots
