Hi Steve, Generally speaking for Class 3 lasers that are conducted from the laser to a receiver or point of use, the fibre should be interlocked with the laser safety interlock so that that laser cannot operate if the fibre is disconnected. For a Class 4 laser this is a mandatory requirement.

I reached out to the CPSC on this about a month ago and they replied very quickly. The final rule has not been published yet. CPSC is working through comments received, which were extensive. They were not able to provide an estimated date for publication of the final rule since they expected the pr
