"Not used at all" is also incorrect. There are two questions here. What is
used and what does SACI approve.
During my visit to Beijing and Shanghi I found in use the Australian, old
British, new British, Shuko, Europlug and US varieties, often all in the same
office. The solution was using outlet strips which had an ingenious
accept-everything hole configuration. Thats right, it accepted everything
including Swiss and Israeli configurations. It had five oddly shaped holes. I
brought one back for lab use.

As far as what we had to comply with, it was GB 1002-1996. We were told to
use the two pin 10A parallel blade (pseudo US 1-15P) for Class II equipment,
and the three pin 6A,10A crowsfoot (pseudo Australian) for Class I equipment.

The standard also describes a larger three pin 16A crowsfoot (pseudo US
10-20P) and a two round pin (5mm pin, 19mm o.c. pseudo old British BS
546A/Shuko) plug which were not discussed.

They can claim anything they want, but that is not correct. Perhaps it's
an old catalogue.

The Chinese plug RESEMBLES the Australian plug, but is not acceptable in
China. The Europlug is not used at all. The only other plug, used in
parts of China (eg. Hong Kong) resembles the British plug.

Cheers,

Egon :-)
