Check UL 1950 Guidelines, 1.2.5.1-001 and -002. They define NEMA 1-15P,
5-15P and 5-20P as Type A. Everything else is Type B. These plugs are for
the type of receptacles typically found in the home.
I believe that CSA uses same concept.

IEC 309 "Plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes"
are in
UL 1950 lists the plugs and sockets considered to be non industrial
according to IEC 83.
