The first topic, presented by Glyn Garside of TUV, concerns the SEMI S2 safety guideline. The second topic concerning fire awareness training and micro environment suppression will be presented in two parts. The first part, presented by Bill MacKay of Advanced Safety Systems, will cover Firetrace’s SHAPE program. The second part, presented by Joe Kostecki of Firetrace International, will cover the Firetrace approach to “Micro Environment Fire Suppression
Glyn Garside’s SEMI S2 safety guideline presentation will provide an introduction to SEMI S2 and concern issues such as: - Is a "guideline" the same as a "standard"? - Is it mandatory? - Why are there no "shall" statements in the standard? - Scope and key requirements - Key differences between 0200, 0302, 1102 and 0303 editions - and what's next? - Related standards and additional requirements - How to demonstrate compliance Glyn Garside is a Senior Engineer with TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc. Specializing in Functional Safety assessment (SIL rating) and Machinery and Electrical safety. Glyn is a member of several safety-standards technical committees, including ANSI/NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery), ANSI/RIA R15.06 (Industrial Robots & Safety Requirements), and UL 1998. He is a member of the IEE and the IEEE and a past vice-chairman of the IEEE Product Safety Technical Committee, Santa Clara Valley chapter. Bill MacKay will give the first part of the Firetrace presentation. Bill is the President of Advanced Safety Systems and a past President of the FSSA (Fire Suppression Systems Association). His topic is the Firetrace “Special Hazards Awareness, Promotion and Education” or SHAPE program. This presentation is not specific to any one type of agent or manufacturer.
