I don't know of any UL standards the require tinning,
although I definitely haven't read all (or even most)
of them.

The style numbers aren't dictated by the UL standards.
The way it was explained to me by the wire & cable
folk when I worked at UL is that the style numbers are
an index of what unique styles companies have
submitted to UL over the years. So, there may or may
not be any similarity between style 1015 and 1016, it
is just that 1016 was the next style submitted after
1015 that didn't match anything already in the
database (by the way, 1015 and 1016 date back to
1959).

There is a very basic AWM query available on UL's
website (you can look up company names and also
specific wirestyle numbers), but I think UL has an
internal query engine that might be able to search by
keyword, so if there is a wire & cable UL engineer you
know you might be able to find out if there are any
wire styles that do require tinning.

But I think most of the wire styles are more concerned
with the insulation and only spec the wire gauge
range, not whether the wire is tinned or not.
