Carl, The Mesa 5i20 with 7i33 and 7i37 work well with the Yaskawa SGDA drives and motors. Tuning is a bit tricky as there is the internal drive-to-motor loop and the EMC2-to-drive loop. I use a 2nd pc running Yaskawa tuning software to tune the drive/motor loop. I have 4 SGDA drives/motors running

To learn the machine control side you can install EMC2 and run it in the sim mode. As for software to train you on how to make chips AFAIK there is not any. General speed and feed guides abound on the internet. What is the motivation for this? Are you building a CNC lathe etc? John On 4 Apr

My best guess according to what I've been able to find so far is that the servos use 2048ppr incremental encoders. The only thing I know is that the resolution is .001mm axis movement per pulse. This rig can rapid move at at least 500 in/minute, although I never run it that fast. At the servo ra
