I tried installing EMC2 from the live cd and it failed. I installed Ubuntu
8.04 and it ran fine, but when I installed EMC2 and tried booting the rtai
kernel I received this message:

If you want to use the soft limits you have to reference the machine -
but you don't need to have limit switches to do that.
Homing or referencing the machine is a very good idea. Soft limits save
tooling... ;-)
