Have you also tried CopperCam (http://www.galaad.net/coppercam-eng.html)? CopperCam can do both contour tracing (with a settable width of free space around the edges) and do a full area hatch. You can hatch using the same engraving cutter used to trace the contours but you can also specify any

It depends how you installed Karmic. If Karmic was a clean install, then normally it should have installed grub2, if you upgraded from an earlier version normally grub legacy will be retained. I'll assume it was a clean install. One way to sort it: make a Super Grub Disc

[Emc-users] Burying the Z-Axis - Yet Another Newbie Problem

I have no idea why this is occurring but it's driving me crazy. It seems the very first pass I do in an operation is resulting in it burying the Z-axis far deeper than it should. I've been able to reproduce this consistently. I've even created a little video that shows it happening:
