Hello All,
Please excuse my ignorance, but why would you want to
install EMC2 in VirtualBox ?
I would have thought, with my admittedly limited knowledge of Linux,
that doing that would be
like playing Russian Roulette with a loaded machine gun?

some reservations about this as I don't feel it's right to profit from

so now I can use the Vesa driver, which seems to have fixed the
invisible cursor
problem. The SBC I am using is a ROBO-8712VLA, which has onboard graphics
and an Intel chipset of some flavour,

I think the point about expensive hardware is a bit
off. How much is a Mesa 5i20 board
these days? Or if you are a real skinflint, a Pluto-P board, which is
about $60 last time I looked.
And how difficult is it to switch your computer off manually ?

I'm getting a 404 Error when I try to download EMC from
the EU Mirror site.
To download it from the primary site will take 15 hours :-( ,which is
OK, but a little bit slow.

Installed EMC2 from Live CD to a Xycom Industrial PC, works fine
except
that the screen is 1024 x 768 and the only resolutions available in the screen
resolution
setup are 800 x 600 and 640 x 480. If I look in the file xconf in /etc/X11
there are 3
resolutions listed
