I use an Automation Direct GS2 VFD on my Series 1 BP. LinuxCNC has a
component to control the GS2 via modbus.

Yes - I use a Telemecanique ATV21HU30N4 3Kw flux vector drive on the
lathe. Works with analogue voltage input or modbus. I'm using analogue
with a simple breakout board and
