I finally was able to figure out that I needed to change the Enigmail
(key management) to be able to encrypt and sign an email with my new
(ultimate) key. Alles ist jetzt gut.

Sorry - ran into another problem. I revoked one key and created a new
one for the same email address. In the keychain, I also deleted the old,
revoked key. The reason is because I couldn't sign this or include my
"new" valid key. The system says that the key has been revoked.
