So I pushed that other patch for expand+fill.
From the few uses in elm_test it removes some lines of code.

Is it the concept or the implementation that's troublesome?
Being hidden by default adds to more user code in general - just like not
being fill by default. I'd like to see our eo api be easiest for app
developers rather than us ;)

Here's a slightly experimental patch to make EO object visible by default.
In order to not break everything, the visibility is delayed until the
beginning of render. This means that an object may appear as invisible
(visible_get() returns false) even though it will in fact be visible.
