e17 from cvs from yesterday doesn't show locales anymore. The version
0.16.999.018 from get-e.org shows them fine. I can't see a relevant change if I
compare config.h from
both versions. The problem is in the binary, because I get the locales back if
I exchange
only the enlightment

You're right, it seems
It seems to be a creeper, getting laggier very slowly over the
session. Adding and removing stuff may just trigger the problem to
start from no lag. It might still creep up to laggy.
Makes it very hard to debug.
