When I change an icon it does not show up in the ibar or

I am experiencing some issues with the IBar:
while in edit mode the "clear" area the denotes the size of the module
is huge, streatching from the bottom of the screen to the top. this
happens while in edit mode under any theme.
I am also unable to adjust the ibar advanced ibar properties.
