You've to use a file manager that is capable of drawing on the window managers background, e.g. ROX-Filer or Nautilus. Last time I checked with ROX-Filer it wanted to take charge of the backdrop, too, but I don't know if this can be turned off. Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web
