Just a suggestion, is it better to see eg. Multimedia folder as Multime...
rather than ...ltimedia?.
right now in my e17 desktop everything shows as ...tar.gz without knowing which
file is which.

After the recent update, when I start E17 via my ~/.xsession, I get a
plain black screen when E starts. I don't think this issue is at all
related to E - if
