Does anyone here know if this method would work using XiG Accelerated
X-server. I have long needed to be able to find a way to switch between
us, and ua (Ukrainian) keyboard mapping.

A while ago I posted about my issues in getting Entrance to work
properly via the dm.d service used in Mandriva to handle X Display
Managers.
Anyways, I finally got around that problem by setting Entrance up as a
daemon (Should have tried that earlier).
When I run Entrance as a daemon th
there's a 'language' module, but it's not working with the modern Xorg.
i can suggest the simple old-day well known and well forgotten. let's
say you're using us-ru layouts. just type as an ordinary user:
setxkbmap -layout us,ru -option grp:lctrl_lshift_toggle,grp_led:scroll -variant
