you can set the numlock on cmd via:
numlockx on
if you start your X with startx put this command into your ~/.xinitrc
else you can create an .desktop file and add it to the startup list of
e17.

I just have this problem few days ago.
Please, clean and uninstall all your previous e17 packages, and it should be
ok.
