Hello,
I'm using the very latest svn of EFL.
I do want to use the places module.
But, when I try to load this, I get SEGV error.
I get the error message in the .xsession-errors;

Sir,
I'm willing to learn some about svn, and do the suggested svn update,
but want to
be sure I am starting the right way.
The version of E17 I am using on slackware64 13.37 was from the slacke17
project,
which I think only gets updated when the slackware version changes.
Their build is
R5988
It seems that ( http://code.google.com/p/e17mods/wiki/Places,
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-873651-start-0.html ) HAL is required for
places to work. Don't know for sure, how it appears though.
SeoZ, do you also have HAL?

I have e_dbus and eeze installed, but not hal. Debian is in the process of
deprecating hal in favor of udev. When I run autogen.sh from places it checks
(among other things) for e, edge and e_dbus. autogen.sh runs ok and generates a
make file that compiles and installs without complaint.

Thanks, that's how I'll do it, then!
To make it clear, however: I don't have problems with KDE apps, only a little
issue with KMail. When I try to start if from the applications menu, it tries
to invoke Akonadi. But then it crashes, seemingly, because Akonadi doesn't
come up quickly enouigh. Cli
I have same problem with mh.
I installed e, edje, e_dbus, eeze with the latest svn. Built and
installed places.
Loaded places module. When I tried to add places gadget, I just had empty box.
What do I have do more?
Thanks in advance.

I think that also eeze is needed.

Does Places require HAL to work properly, and not work with udev?

I've been using E since before that 'start kde' option was, but never got
problems with K apps. Try E's own startup, you can add akonaditray and some
other k daemon to start in there.
When you start adding apps in e's startup, if you can't find what you need,
try looking for the .desktop and placi
I've found that places doesn't work nice with LVM.try pluggin an usb
dongle and see if something pops in. Also, check the deps at build
time.probably you need e_dbus and some hal libraries
