I have for some time been using e-17 from e-develop.org Debian:
unstable. Usually I upgrade twice per week or more if packages change
quickly. However for the last three weeks I've not been able to get
beyond the e-17 login dialog screen. After typing the appropriate
password then p
Yep, exactly what I did.. mkdir old.desktop then
mv /home/./Desktop /home//old.desktop; then restart e-17.
So at least a work around for now.

(b): editing /etc/apt/sources.list
(c): apt-get -update
(d):apt-get dist-upgrade.
(e): update-alternatives --config x-session manager
(f): reboot
(g): x-session chooser menu choose Enlightenment
(h): usual user name >en
