I've just tried and successfully compiled enlightenment on redhat
enterprise linux 4 ws. Although the basics work, like flipping through
virtual workspaces and opening applications. not much else does. A

first of all, what are you talking about e16 or e17 ?!
I think that is e17, and it does actually work pretty fine for a
developpement version.
This developpement version is provided with even less warranty than e16 which is

I was using a verion of e17 from about 6 months - 1 year ago and it had
a feature that when it crashed, it popped up a dialog and let you
restart.
Whatever happenend to that?

Do you use yum or apt? Didier has a good yum repository for e17 that I
use and it's the cat's meow. Go to http://sps.nus.edu.sg/~didierbe/
for a full explanation, the packages on his repository are updated at
least once a week, so you're not often with a fickle version, and if
