What ip address does the server resolve to from your end?

That's the DNS server you're using, of your ISP in all probability.
I think it is my ISP that is meddling. They have a bad reputation for
doing so.

And, svn seems to be able to do this, can't check right now, by using:
-r {2011-11-01}:{2011-11-02}
this is converted to the most recent revision number within that timeframe.
The date also implicates 00h:00m, so the above should give the newest

if it's an update that failed (./easy_e17.sh -u) then try adding the -f
flag.
if it's a fresh install on a clean system then I suppose just wait until the
