Ok, I've made that huge jpeg-file.
I have installed the new background this way:

- right click with the mouse
- Desktop background settings
- I chose my huge background

The new background was being applied, but it was *scaled down*
to the size of one desktop.

Instead of looking like this

     _______________
    | | |
    | 1 | 2 |
    |_______|_______|
    | | |
    | 3 | 4 |
    |_______|_______|

It looked like this:
     _______________
    | 1 2 | 1 2 |
    | | |
    |_3___4_|_3___4_|
    | 1 2 | 1 2 |
    | | |
    |_3___4_|_3___4_|

I have fiddled a little bit with the scaling option of the gui,
but that wouldn't make it larger, only smaller.

I have the suspicion that it takes some changes in one of the
config-files of my theme (desktop.cfg?)
I just don't know the command sequence that will give me the
desired results.

Maybe it's

ADD_BACKGROUND_TILED ...

But I don't know what other ADD_BACKGROUND commands there might
be and which one I need...
