If you're using screen, it will take care of the buffering in place of the terminal. Ctrl-A [ to enter hilight mode, from where you can move around the buffer using arrow keys and pgup / pgdn. Escape to go back to input mode, or Enter to mark selection start and end points, with Ctrl-A ] to paste.

I've been using Eterm for a couple of years but there is one feature I've wanted and never can seem to make it work when I find the time to tinker with it. I'm a big fan of being able to do my work using only the keyboard, but there doesn't seem to be a way within Eterm to scroll back and forth
