but stick on a 13mm or 25mm extension tube and they work fine: at
least that's how I get my 100 macro lens to yield 2.5:1 magnification.

I find it very useful for my macro photography (which I usually bounce off
something). If the ambient light is dark, you have a good sense of where
shadows are falling. If the ambient light is high, then you really can't
see it that much.
