thanks to those who replied to my question comparing these lenses (70-200
f/2.8L + 2X TC vs. 100-400 IS.)
FYI. oddly enough, even after checking the websites you all mentioned, i
was unable to locate MTF charts or any direct comparison for these lenses.

It's nice to see there are other people who don't like the white color
of the 70-200 f/2.8. I like to shoot on the streets, and that big white
lens draws a lot of attention -- especially not a good idea in some of
the sketchier neighborhoods. In fact, awhile back I bought a Sigma

Hi:
Haven't participated for awhile (plus the change of e-mail). Anyway, I've
recently found a problem on my 380EX flash. The assistant light (the little
red light) has been acting quite strange. Sometime it's on and it's not
with my EOS 50e. When it's not on, my camera assitant light kicked

for (1) I think FEL would help. You take the measure (pre-flash) and
then you shot anytime withing the 16secs that the FEL

Wow ... that was a quick response: they have fitted one already ;o)

Don,
I unwrapped my new 100-300 L yesterday. Now is a great time to buy because
the price has really dropped recently. Adorama has them for $329 US and B&H
has them for $349 US ($329 grey). If it ever quits raining here I will use
it this weekend and let you know what I think. I sold my 100-300 US

I'm after a used one at the moment for my sports (mostly ice hockey)
coverage, to use alongside my 300/2.
Hi,
Does anyone have one of the above ?
If so, do you have any pictures on the web taken with it, and what
are your overall impressions of the lens ?
I want to buy a Macro lens, and am thinking of buying this one..
Thanks,

Out of interest, does the Elan IIE operate its internal flash similar to
the external 380 EX?
In particular, does the IIE automatically reduce output to the internal
flash in bright or backlit situations (dependant on ambient light levels)
to create a "fill-flash" situation where appropriate?
