I just came back from a week long boat journey related to my job. I had my EOS
equipment with me as the 1000+ nautical mile trip will be published in a boating
magazine with photos. I shot a lot with my EF 28mm 2.8, but after couple of days I
decided to use my 28-135 IS. But the lens just focused with the center point and IS
gave some sticky movements. I switched back to 28 mm prime and tested the zoom later,
but then it didn't work at all! Obviously it's broken and I will contact my Canon
service immediately. Does anyone have experiences, what part or system might be broken
inside the lens? Is the lens repair still possible? I am sure the lens went down due
hard weather shaking we faced in our 6,4 metre boat in 7 beaufort wind...my 1V HS
still works like new though.
