There was an article in either the NYTimes or the WSJ a couple of weeks ago about the ridiculous price of music CDs and how it will increase soon. Apparently the first few years of music on CD (up until quite recently) was made up of people upgrading the same music they'd had on LP or cassette to play in the newer format. I can understand that -- many CDs I own duplicate LPs or casettes I own but no longer use. This, coupled with the sale of CDs to younger people who don't NEED the complete works of the Doors on CD, made for a robust market. During the past 12-18 months, sales of people buying new versions of old stuff has fallen noticeably. For the music companies to maintain the profits they're been enjoying w/out all this baby-boomer replacement business prices will have to go up, since costs won't drop and volume won't increase. -- regards, Henry Posner Director of Sales and Training B&H Photo-Video, and Pro-Audio Inc. http://www.bhphotovideo.com * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
