With Elan II(e), max flash sync speed is 1/125. Going faster
than that and you are using FP flash, which has very 
short range. Using 1/125 will not cause blur even with longer
lenses _if_ the flash is the main source of light. 
ie. you use such values that without flash you'd be 
underexposing at least two stops then it doesn't really
matter what the shutter speed is as the exposure will
happend during that short burst of flash. 

That will cause other problems though.
Mainly black backgrounds if the background is further than 
the subject. Also underexposure is likely as the range for 
using flash is not that big, even with EX550.

In this case, I think you could have done the "flash as main
source of light" using M mode, F5.6 - 8.0 and 1/125 but
then again, you would have got black backgrounds and if there
is something in the foreground, it would most likely get
washed up.
