EOS Upgrade to 28-135 IS lens??

Since Canon introduced the 28-135 IS lens, I am under the impression that Canon has improved its IS hardware and software. Does anybody know if Canon is planning to upgrade the IS in this lens? Or perhaps exand the zoom range to a 24-135mm? __
