We currently use ds in p2 to declare most of our services.
Yet we don't have any particular bundle that declares a dependency on ds.
I can justify this in some respects - theoretically there could be clients

I've been wildly refactoring some p2 code in my workspace to play around
with some alternate API.
In doing so, I've broken the SDK's service registration for the UI Policy.
It seems I've got some kind of class circularity going on, but it's not
clear to me what the problem is.

Most (all?) of the p2 core team are taking their vacations right now. I

Do you mean something at the ECF level? Or in p2?
In p2 we currently rely on the platform UI progress view rather than
present
at various stages in the UI progress or will end up with an
uninstallable set of IUs once the user presses "finish", but this can be
managed .

Hi, Helmut. I'll take a stab at these, although I don't know about #3.
1) First ask the user what hosts/archs etc. he
wants to install and then use that information in both the UI and the
installation itself. Is this possible at all?

I've been struggling with how to handle the case where the user has
