I have worked a little with teflon as a machinist. It is hard to hold in a chuck of course and drills weirder than most plastics. You should try tapping a hole in it. I wish I had known about these differences then as I would have looked for differences in their machinability. Anyway my ques

I've also noted that Swagelok ball valves state that the standard seat material is 'reinforced TFE', with 'virgin TFE' as an optional material with a lower pressure rating. The questions is: What is that reinforcing material and it that the problem? The only other options are UHMW polyethylene
