Larry,
I have a pair of wireless modems that will probably do 19.2 K baud full
duplex over several hundred feet. I cut 'em some descent antennas for
outdoor placement, which might extend the rang a bit. A pair of yagis would
do even better. I have the schematic and wallwarts too. Just never got

I don't know how enlightening I can be, but I will forward the (html

so. I have to hit the sack to be at work at 6 so I haven't had a chance to
check out the MySQL site yet. My gut (and I am not an open source true

start arriving around 6:30. Um.. pizza order goes in by 8:30. I need 8 heads
@ $3 each by then to get the usual two pizzas. If we've got a dozen heads
like last week then we can go for 3 pizzas if everyone wants some. Ca

Hi all,
Would anyone happen to know where EFN keeps their mailing list
archives? I need to get a message from one of the Growers Market
mailing lists that accidentally got deleted from my local machine.
Cheers,

I should also clarify, if they are from two different providers, there is no
way known by me!, to do this.
Apparently one can get something like portable ip addresses, read that thread
I just sent. However, for most people, bgp is the way to do it.
Although, I do know that some telecommunication
First there is the problem of dns.
If your dns entry only points to one ip, then to switch that can take up to
four days. Effect: no instant fail over.
If you have two ips in your dns, then you have to consider the possibility
that some users will get one IP address, and some will get the other
2 different providers.
Theres gotta be some way to do this. I have a couple hundred domains
the requests will be coming in for. I'm trying to find a way to continue
to serve pages/mail for these domains, even if provider 1 goes down for ~2
hrs (has happened about once a month since I've been h

I want to rebuild my network to look something like:

This might be the monkey in the middle attack that dsniff contained a tool
for exploiting. But I'm not sure...

I just switched (had a problem with and old sshd in the path's forefront
after compiling and installing the latest OpenSSH!), but now my password
is no longer accepted. I presume that I have some other problem (have had
weird and improper behaviour of shadow file!!!), and I wish linux would
work

does anyone know of any cheap radio pcmcia cards, or even just cheap radio
boards that can work from a serial port?

Wow. Is this the first case of this kind? If/when you find out more please

Well, cramming made me miss the NuSphere seminar up in Portland this
morning. Big deal.
Of note, however, is an e-mail from NuSphere, an outfit that packages an
easy install of Apache, Perl, PHP4, and MySQL along with (I haven't seen
them) some improvements like "MySQL Enhanced" and "PHPeD" to cr
I was wondering if anyone else is planning on heading North this
evening... sounds like a good meeting; I've been wondering about making
my own "distro" for a while now : )

i run an iptables firewall at home that routes for two computers. we play a
few games with people outside the firewall with my computer acting as the
server. my internal network is 10.0.0.0/28 and my computer's ip is

I hear that ssh1 is deprecated -- not secure enough. Ssh2 is better,
at least if you run the latest rev of OpenSSH.
But that's all I know. Can somebody tell me more? How is ssh1
insecure? What's required to migrate to ssh2? Which authentication
schemes are good or bad?
